Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

One position is available and will be filled at the level consistent with the selected applicant's experience. Levels include: Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist or Senior Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist
Salary: Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist $24.85 starting/$26.16; Senior Trades Specialist II -HVAC Specialist $26.85 starting/$28.19 working
Travel: No travel
Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Under general supervision, provide skills and engage in technical, mechanical, electronic maintenance, and renovation work in and around university buildings.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent
Discipline / Degree Area:  
Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist and Senior Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist
Current and valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Senior Trades Specialist II
EPA certified for Type II, III, IV or universal refrigerants.
Completed operator level 1 and 2 training for ammonia refrigeration systems.
Required Minimum Work Experience: Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist and Senior Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist
Associate's Degree in Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist
Two years of experience in HVAC maintenance work at senior trades worker level.

Senior Trades Specialist II-HVAC Specialist
Five years of experience in HVAC maintenance work at senior trades worker level.
Experience with relevant facilities management systems software and hardware.
Experience working with absorption chillers, steam and condensate systems including PRV stations and steam traps.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of relevant HVAC system installations, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance including air handling units, pumping systems, chillers, air compressors, steam and hot water systems, etc.
Knowledge of building and construction materials, methods, and tools involved in construction.
Knowledge of mechanical and ventilation codes and design and engineering principles involved in production of technical plans and drawings.
General knowledge of building structural systems and electrical systems operations.
Working knowledge of computer applications (e.g., word processing, email, internet, web-based programs).

SKILLS:
Equipment operation monitoring, troubleshooting, diagnosis, installation, maintenance, and repair.
Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively deal with a broad variety of people and prepare quality correspondence.
Excellent critical thinking skills and good judgment; able to effectively analyze situations and solve problems.
Effective interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize, plan work, and handle multiple tasks.
